So I am going to try and start a Gay Straight Alliance at my high school within the next week. My history teacher offered to advise it. I want to create a space for students to come and feel welcomed to raise awareness for rights and feel supported. It would sort of be set up like a support group but I am going to check out other schools clubs first
I am just scared my principal, superintendent, or school board might try and shoot me down. I think it will be received well by the surprisingly tolerant and widely gay student body at my school. I think I would call it GSA but then let them know we would be open obviously to the LGBT community
We could create ways for people to forward our casue... write more later!

I don't think there is much a school really can do about stopping your GSA. Schools are terrified of lawsuits of any sort.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the support, yeah I am going to be meeting with my principal again tomorrow to see if I got the "OK" from my school board and/or superintendent. Materials for group projects would be amazing!
